Peru Jose Rivera 'Verano' Sidra Washed Filter - Single Origin
Peru Jose Rivera 'Verano' Sidra Washed Filter - Single Origin.
Jose Rivera or “Pepe” is a coffee producer and exporter in the northern Cajamarca region of Peru. He and his wife, Mariagracia, run Origin Coffee Lab (OCL), an exporter recognised for sourcing and moving some of the country’s most distinctive specialty lots.
El Rejo is a 1-hectare farm in San José del Alto, sitting at 1750–1800 metres above sea level. Pepe began this project alongside his exporting work to deepen his understanding of sustainable coffee production in practice. He is part of a small Community called La Palestina, where 18 producers manage their own farms while collaborating closely on cultivation and processing.
Pepe is also trialling Marshell, SL9, Sidra and several Ethiopian varieties, using the farm as a living laboratory to explore how these genetics express at high altitude under careful, quality-focused management. This lot is a Sidra variety and while it does not have a clear genetic identity, it is believed to be an Ecuadorian hybrid of Bourbon and Typica; standing out for its Gesha-like complexity.
